Unfortunately, many in our community are unable to provide for their families during the holiday season. Each year, E/BFSC requests support for those families who would otherwise go without during this season. In 2010, E/BFSC was able to distribute over 2054 toys, books, gift card and other gifts to over 202 families, including 489 children in the community. 35 families, including 206 children, were adopted by area families, businesses and organizations through the Adopt-a-Family Program. In addition, over 194 families received Thanksgiving food baskets through community donations and E/BFSC contributions.
We hope that you are fortunate enough to participate in E/BFSC Adopt-A-Family program this year. This program matches sponsors who are fortunate enough to give, with families who are in need of support. There are many families of varying sizes with children that range from ages 0-16 years old who require assistance. Please spread the word and team up with your churches, offices, or social networks to support our families in Ward 5 and 6.
If you are unable to Adopt-A-Family, we also welcome the following items which are given directly to our families:
- Monetary donations: checks or PayPal (www.ebfsc.org)
- New Unwrapped Toys
- Gift Cards
- Thanksgiving turkeys or non-perishable trimmings
Please contact Lynnese Hayes at 202-832-9400 ext. 131 or email her at lhayes@ebfsc.org to confirm your commitment by November 10, 2011 for Thanksgiving donations, and/or December 2, 2011 for Holiday donations, so that we may plan for our distribution to families.
Thank you in advance for making a difference in the lives of children and their families.
